Meet the Culprit: The Brown Marmorated Stink Bug
That odd-looking insect is most likely the brown marmorated stink bug (Halyomorpha halys), an invasive species originally from Asia that’s now widespread across Europe and North America.
You can recognize it by:
- A shield-shaped body
- Mottled brown coloring
- Light and dark bands on its antennae and wings
These bugs often show up indoors during fall and winter as they search for warmth.
